Adverswordle

Adverswordle is a free word puzzle by DotEye that puts you in charge of the clues. Instead of guessing a hidden word, you mark the letters in an AI’s five-letter guesses. The aim is to keep the AI guessing for as long as possible without giving contradictory feedback. It turns Wordle’s familiar colors into a challenge of vocabulary and careful reasoning.

HOW TO MARK THE AI’S GUESSES

Choose the Feedback Colors

Think of a five-letter English word to guide your responses. You do not need to type this answer into the game.

For each AI guess, click or tap the tiles to cycle through three states:

  • Gray or uncolored: The letter is absent, or this is an extra occurrence of a repeated letter.
  • Yellow: The letter appears in the answer, but in another position.
  • Green: The letter matches the answer in that exact position.

Select Submit after checking all five tiles. The AI then chooses another word using your clues. Letters already confirmed green remain fixed in later guesses.

A Simple Example

Suppose your answer is LIGHT, and the AI guesses TRAIN:

Letter

Your Feedback

Explanation

T

Yellow

T is in LIGHT, but at the end.

R

Gray

R is absent.

A

Gray

A is absent.

I

Yellow

I belongs in the second position.

N

Gray

N is absent.

This example illustrates how to score a guess; it is not a fixed sequence from the game.

For repeated letters, check how many copies the answer contains. If the AI guesses LLAMA against LIGHT, the first L is green and the second is gray. One correct letter does not make every copy correct.

THE RULE THAT KEEPS A ROUND VALID

After each submission, at least one word in the game’s dictionary must match all your feedback so far.

A green letter must stay in its confirmed position. A yellow letter must exist elsewhere in the answer. Earlier clues still apply even when the AI introduces new letters.

If no supported word satisfies the complete history, you lose and receive zero points. Choosing a real English word is not enough if it is missing from the game’s dictionary.

SCORING AND DAILY PLAY

When the AI guesses the answer, mark all five tiles green and submit. Your score is the total number of guesses it used, including that final guess. There is no six-guess cutoff.

The official version offers a daily round, with a countdown to the next game after completion. It currently has no Unlimited mode.

Browser storage saves your progress and High Score. You can also share results, use spoiler formatting for Discord or Reddit, and enable High Contrast Mode.

Frequently asked questions

Can I Change the Word I Am Thinking Of?
Yes, but the replacement must fit every previous clue. Keeping one answer throughout the round is easier for beginners.
How Can I Find Out Why I Lost?
Select Why did I lose? and enter the word you believed was valid. The tool can identify feedback that conflicts with it or tell you that the word is not in the dictionary.
