Wordle Sketch lets you turn a Wordle grid into a picture. Choose the colors you want to see, enter today’s answer, and ask the tool to find words that would create those colors. The challenge is making a design that looks good and follows Wordle’s letter rules.
WHAT IS WORDLE SKETCH?
In a regular Wordle game, you enter a word and receive colored tiles. Wordle Sketch works in the opposite direction: you color the tiles first, then look for words that could produce your design against a known answer. The squares become pixels, while the matching words make the picture possible.
HOW TO CREATE A WORDLE SKETCH
Draw Your Pattern
Select the tile colors to form a shape on the grid. Start with something simple, such as a stripe or a small symbol. Each colored square places a condition on the word that must fit its row.
Enter the Answer and Find Words
Type the solution into the Answer field, then select Find words. Check Word possibilities for words that match your chosen colors. If the tool cannot find enough suitable words, change part of the pattern and search again. Reset tiles lets you clear the design and start over.
An Example Of How The Colors Work
Suppose you enter PLANT as the answer and want one row to appear gray, gray, green, green, gray. CRANE is an example of a guess that produces that sequence:
- C and R are gray because they are not in PLANT.
- A and N are green because they occupy the correct positions.
- E is gray because it is not in PLANT.
That is one row of a possible sketch. To build a larger picture, you need words that produce the patterns you chose for the other rows too. PLANT and CRANE are teaching examples, not a claim about today’s answer or the words currently shown by the tool.
WHY SOME DESIGNS ARE DIFFICULT TO MAKE
A colored square cannot be treated as a free choice once you enter the answer. Green requires the correct letter in that exact position. Yellow requires a letter from the answer in a different position. Gray means the guessed letter does not receive credit under Wordle’s rules.
A detailed picture places many conditions on the words Wordle Sketch can use. If you get few possibilities, try changing a small part of the design instead of clearing everything. You may find that a simpler pattern keeps the image recognizable while giving the tool more words to work with.
