WHAT IS FOODLE?

Foodle is a word puzzle that gives you six attempts to uncover a five-letter word related to food and the kitchen. Answers can include dishes, ingredients, drinks, cooking tools, techniques, and flavors. Each guess provides colored clues to help you identify the letters and their positions. The food theme gives you another way to narrow the possibilities, especially when a familiar letter pattern could form several different words.

HOW TO PLAY FOODLE

Enter a Five-Letter Word

Type a word using your keyboard or the on-screen letter buttons, then press Enter to submit it. Use Backspace to remove a letter before submitting.

Every guess must be a valid five-letter word, but it does not have to be food-related. You can use a general word to test letters before considering which kitchen-related answer fits the clues.

Read the Color Clues

After each accepted guess, the tiles change color:

• Green: The letter is correct and in the correct position.
• Yellow: The letter appears in the answer but belongs in another position.
• Gray: The letter is absent, or that occurrence exceeds the number of times it appears in the answer.

Repeated letters are checked individually. One colored tile does not mean every copy of that letter belongs in the answer.

A Simple Guess Example

Suppose the answer is BREAD and you enter GRAPE:

• R turns green because it occupies the correct second position.
• A and E turn yellow because both belong elsewhere.
• G and P turn gray because neither appears in the answer.

Your next guess should keep R in place, move A and E, and test other letters.

Daily Foodle

Daily offers one shared puzzle each day. This mode counts toward your daily winning streak, giving you a reason to return for the next challenge.

Foodle Unlimited

Unlimited lets you continue with additional puzzles without waiting until tomorrow. Choose Everything for the full selection or pick a themed pack such as Breakfast & Brunch, Drinks, Around the World, or In the Kitchen. Seasonal packs provide further options.

Archive Puzzles

The archive uses a calendar to let you select and replay previous daily puzzles. Its collection begins on January 1, 2022, making it useful for revisiting missed days.

TASTE HINT AND HARD MODE

Get a Category Hint

The Taste hint reveals the answer’s category, such as fruit, dessert, or kitchen gear. It helps narrow your thinking without revealing letters. Using it preserves your streak, although your shared result indicates that you requested help.

Follow Every Revealed Clue

Enable Hard Mode in Settings to make discovered clues mandatory. Green letters must remain in their confirmed positions, and yellow letters must appear in later guesses. This limits your options when choosing a word purely to test new letters.

TIPS FOR SOLVING FOODLE

• Test different letters early. An opening word with varied letters gives you more information to work with.
• Combine spelling with the theme. Once a pattern emerges, consider which food or kitchen term fits it.
• Think beyond ingredients. Tools, cooking actions, flavor descriptions, and plural words can also be answers.
