CLUWORD: CRYPTIC CLUES, COLORFUL TILES, AND MUSICAL LETTERS

Cluword is a free daily word puzzle from OneAppleFall that combines cryptic clues with Wordle-style letter feedback. Your goal is to uncover a hidden English word in five guesses. The word length varies between puzzles, so each day presents a different challenge.

The opening clue points toward the answer’s meaning, sometimes through humor or an indirect description. You must connect that clue with the letters you discover to find the solution.

FOLLOW THE CLUE AND FIND THE WORD

Start by reading the clue and checking the required word length. Enter a valid English word using your keyboard or the on-screen keys, then press Enter or Submit.

After each guess, the tiles reveal how your letters match the answer:

• Green: The letter is correct and in the right position.
• Yellow: The letter appears in the answer but belongs elsewhere.
• Grey: The letter does not appear in the answer.

Use both sources of information together. The clue helps you identify possible meanings, while the colored tiles narrow down spelling and letter positions. A word that fits the clue still needs to match the feedback from your previous guesses.

Find the answer within five attempts to win. If you use all five without solving it, the round ends.

EARN MORE CLUES WITH CORRECT LETTERS

Each puzzle begins with one clue and offers up to three additional hints. You earn access to those hints by finding matching letters:

• One green or yellow tile in a guess: Earn the first extra hint.
• Two matching tiles in a guess: Earn two extra hints.
• Three or more matching tiles in a guess: Earn all three extra hints.

The game uses your best individual guess to determine how many hints are available. It does not add matching tiles together across different attempts.

You can reveal an earned hint immediately or leave it locked while you continue solving. Revealing hints does not consume a guess. Later clues become more direct and may provide information such as the answer’s first letter.

A WORD PUZZLE WITH A MUSICAL TOUCH

Cluword adds a playful detail to its title: hover over the letters in the CLUWORD logo to trigger individual piano-like notes. Moving across the seven tiles produces C, D, E, F, G, A, and a higher C, accompanied by small movements of the tiles.

Sound effects also accompany typing, tile reveals, hints, and successful solutions. These touches make the interface feel responsive, while the sound toggle lets you choose a quieter experience. The musical logo is an extra interaction rather than a clue to the hidden word.

DAILY DIFFICULTY AND EXTRA FEATURES

A Weekly Difficulty Schedule

The challenge changes throughout the week:

• Monday and Tuesday: Easy.
• Wednesday and Thursday: Medium.
• Friday through Sunday: Hard.

Easier puzzles favor familiar vocabulary, while harder days introduce more demanding clues and less common words.

Browse the puzzle archive to explore earlier challenges. After completing a round, you can replay it without affecting your statistics.

Built-in statistics track games played, win rate, streaks, and guess distribution. Progress is saved locally in your browser. You can also share your result as an image, check the countdown to the next puzzle, and switch between light and dark themes.
