Connections Game

Connections Game is a word puzzle where you sort 16 words into four groups of four. Each group shares a specific connection, but some words have more than one meaning and may seem to fit several groups. You can solve the Daily puzzle or choose Unlimited to play more rounds.

HOW TO PLAY CONNECTIONS GAME

Read all 16 words before making a selection. Click or tap four that you think share a connection, then press Submit. A correct group is revealed with its category name and removed from the remaining choices. Keep going until you find all four groups.

You lose the round if you make four incorrect submissions. The revealed groups are color coded by difficulty: yellow is the most straightforward, followed by green, blue, and purple.

You can use Shuffle to rearrange the words when you need a fresh look. Deselect All clears your current selection without submitting a guess.

WHY A GROUP THAT LOOKS RIGHT CAN BE WRONG

A word may fit more than one idea. For example, sloth could belong with snail, tortoise, and loris in a group of slow animals. But sloth also has another meaning, so you should check the rest of the board before submitting that group. This is an illustration of how the puzzle works, not a solution to a current round.

Try to name the connection precisely. “Animals” is a broad description; “slow animals” explains why those four words belong together. Then ask whether using one of them would leave another possible group missing a key word. Thinking about the whole board can save a mistake.

DAILY OR UNLIMITED?

Daily gives you a puzzle for the day. Unlimited lets you continue with other puzzles when you want to play more. The modes change how many puzzles you can access, but each round follows the same four group objective and four mistake limit.

MAKE BETTER GUESSES

• Look for a complete set. Finding three related words is a promising start, but wait until a fourth fits the same specific category.
• Check words with several meanings. If a word seems to work in two groups, see which placement makes sense of the words left behind.
• Use “One Away” carefully. This message means three of your selected words belong to one group. Reconsider which word is the outsider before trying again.
