Versedle

A DIFFERENT KIND OF DAILY GUESSING GAME

Versedle is a literary guessing game where your goal is to find the author behind a short passage. Each puzzle features writing from a famous author, and you have six chances to figure out who it is. With a new challenge every day, the answer can be very different from one day to the next.

GAMEPLAY OVERVIEW

Start by reading the passage and entering your best guess. After each attempt, Versedle shows whether the correct author was born earlier or later than your guess, along with an approximate year difference and a proximity percentage. You also get another line from the text, giving you more clues for the next attempt. Put the clues together and see if you can find the author in six guesses.

How to Play

  • Read the passage shown on the screen.
  • Enter the name of an author.
  • Check the birth-year clue, arrow, and percentage.
  • Read the new line revealed after your guess.
  • Use the information to make a better guess.
  • Find the correct author within six attempts.

Tip for Better Guesses

If you don't recognize the passage, don't guess completely at random. Use the birth-year clue to narrow down the author's generation, then consider the writing style and subject of the passage. Easy Mode can also help by showing authors' birth and death years.
