Trordle

Trordle puts three five-letter word puzzles in front of you, but gives you just one set of guesses. Every word you enter appears on all three boards, and you must find all three answers within eight turns. The challenge is deciding when to gather more clues and when to commit to an answer.

HOW TO PLAY TRORDLE

Enter a valid five-letter word and press Enter. The game checks your guess against all three hidden words at once. Each board then shows its own result, so the same letter may have a different color on every board.

Understand the Color Clues

• Green: The letter is in the correct position.
• Yellow: The letter is in the word but belongs in another position.
• Gray: The letter does not appear in that board’s answer, subject to the usual repeated-letter rules.

Keep each board’s clues separate. A gray letter on one board might be useful on either of the other two. You have eight guesses in total, not eight guesses per board.

Example: One Guess, Three Results

Suppose the three hidden words are STONE, CRATE, and HEART. You enter STARE once, and all three boards respond:

• Board 1 — STONE: S, T, and E turn green. A and R turn gray. You now know the answer begins with ST and ends with E.
• Board 2 — CRATE: A and E turn green. T and R turn yellow, so both letters belong in the word but need new positions. S turns gray.
• Board 3 — HEART: A and R turn green. T and E turn yellow, while S turns gray.

The guess is identical on every board; only the feedback changes. Follow each board’s colors separately so you do not rule out a letter that another answer needs.

STRATEGY FOR EIGHT SHARED GUESSES

Because the three answers are different, you need at least three turns to enter them all. Your other turns can help you uncover letters, but you cannot spend them freely.

Start With a Useful Test Word

Choose an opening word with several common letters and no repeated letters. Then inspect all three boards before making your next guess. Look for a word that could solve one board while revealing something useful about the others.

Know When to Stop Testing

As possible answers become clearer, count your unsolved boards and remaining guesses. If two boards remain and you have only two turns left, each guess needs to be an answer. An extra word used only to test letters would leave you without enough turns to finish.
