Knowing a city’s name is one thing; finding it on a globe is another. MapTap Unlimited challenges you to locate cities using their names and countries as clues. Explore a 3D globe, choose your position, and aim for the highest score across five rounds.

HOW TO PLAY MAPTAP UNLIMITED

Read the City and Country

Each round gives you a city to locate, along with its country. Start by finding the correct part of the world, then narrow your search. Think about whether the city lies near a coast, close to a border, or farther inland.

Find the Location on the Globe

Rotate the globe to reach your target country. Use the zoom controls to inspect its shape and surrounding geography, then tap or click where you think the city belongs.

For example, a prompt for Tehran, Iran requires you to find Iran first, then estimate Tehran’s position within the country. Recognizing the country helps, but accurate placement requires more detailed geographical knowledge.

Complete All Five Rounds

A run contains two Easy rounds, one Medium round, and two Hard rounds. Work through all five cities to reach your final score. The increasing difficulty encourages you to move beyond familiar destinations and test your knowledge of less obvious locations.

HOW THE SCORING WORKS

MapTap Unlimited awards points according to the distance between your chosen position and the actual city. A guess within 25 kilometres earns full marks for that round, while more distant guesses receive fewer points. Anything within 150 kilometres counts as a hit.

The Medium round carries a ×2 multiplier, and each Hard round carries ×3. Across all five rounds, the maximum total is 1,000 points.

This distance-based system makes precision valuable. Finding the correct country is a useful start, but placing the city accurately is what raises your score.

WHAT MAKES THE UNLIMITED MODE DIFFERENT?

Daily MapTap offers one set of five locations per day. MapTap Unlimited lets you begin another set after finishing, giving you more opportunities to practise or improve your personal best.

The game runs free in a browser without installation or registration. You can play on a computer or phone, and your best score is saved on your device.

TIPS FOR MORE ACCURATE GUESSES

• Locate the country first. Establish the correct region before thinking about the city’s exact position. This gives your search a clear starting point.
• Use coastlines and borders. Compare the city’s remembered location with recognisable geographical features. A coastal destination needs a different approach from one deep inland.
• Zoom before placing your guess. A small movement at a distant zoom level can represent a large distance. Inspect the area more closely before making your selection.
