ABOUT DOGDLE
Dogdle is a daily puzzle that challenges you to identify a shelter dog’s two breeds in eight guesses. Start with its photo, then use feedback about breed characteristics to narrow your choices. Every featured dog is real and looking for a home.
Inspired by Wordle and other daily guessing games, Dogdle replaces hidden words with mixed-breed dogs. Success depends on combining visual observations with clues from your previous attempts.
Creator Josh developed the game to help shelter dogs find families. His own dog, Sam, whose breed mix people struggle to recognize, also inspired the challenge.
HOW TO PLAY
Study the Photo and Submit a Breed
Examine the dog’s ears, face, body shape, and coat to choose a starting breed. Enter its name in the search field, select it from the suggested list, and press the arrow to submit.
Your first choice gives you information to work with, even when it is incorrect.
Understand the Feedback
Dogdle compares your guess across seven characteristics:
- Size
- Shedding
- Grooming needs
- Coat
- Activity level
- Lifespan
- Origin
The feedback shows an exact match, a close or partial match, or no match. Arrows indicate whether to guess higher or lower for certain attributes. For example, an upward arrow beside size suggests considering a larger breed.
Look for combinations of matching traits. A similar coat alone may leave many possibilities, while coat, size, and origin together can make the next choice clearer.
Work Toward Both Answers
Use each result to refine your next guess. Keep the matching characteristics in mind while changing those that do not fit.
Finding one breed completes only part of the puzzle. Continue until you identify the second breed or run out of attempts. If you need help, tap the lightbulb beside a breed slot for a hint.
WHAT MAKES DOGDLE SPECIAL?
Dogdle connects its puzzles to adoption opportunities. After a round, you receive a link to learn more about the featured dog and the possibility of giving it a home.
There is a new challenge each day, but you can also open the Archive through the calendar button to explore earlier puzzles. This gives you more dogs to discover whenever you want to keep playing.
