ABOUT WARMLE
Warmle is a word puzzle inspired by Wordle that uses alphabetical distance to guide your guesses. Each tile compares your letter with the answer’s letter at the same position, helping you narrow down the possibilities.
The challenge combines vocabulary with logical deduction. Knowing which letters sit close together in the alphabet becomes just as useful as recognizing possible words.
HOW TO PLAY
Each puzzle begins with a completed clue row. Study its feedback, then use your five guesses to uncover the hidden word. The opening clue does not count toward those attempts.
Enter a word and submit it to receive feedback for each position:
Tile Color | Meaning |
Green | The letter is correct and in the correct position. |
Yellow | The letter is incorrect but within three alphabetical steps of the correct letter. |
Gray | The letter is more than three alphabetical steps away from the correct letter. |
For example, the R in CRANE turns yellow, so the answer’s second letter could be O, P, Q, S, T, or U. In the image, it is P in SPICE. R itself is excluded because an exact match would turn green.
Controls
Type using your keyboard or select letters on the onscreen keyboard. Press Enter to submit a guess and use Backspace to correct your entry.
HOW WARMLE DIFFERS FROM WORDLE
The familiar colors require a different interpretation:
Clue | Wordle | Warmle |
Green | Correct letter and position. | Correct letter and position. |
Yellow | The letter appears elsewhere in the answer. | The correct letter at this position is nearby alphabetically. |
Gray | The letter is absent, subject to repeated-letter rules. | The correct letter at this position is farther away alphabetically. |
A gray letter in Warmle may still appear elsewhere in the answer. Every clue describes one position, so avoid treating feedback as a rule for the entire word.
GAME MODES AND FEATURES
Daily And Unlimited
Daily provides a shared puzzle with the same opening clue for everyone. Unlimited lets you continue solving additional puzzles after completing the daily challenge.
Super Warmle And Super Warmle PLUS
These variants change the distance required for yellow feedback:
- Standard Warmle: Within three alphabetical steps.
- Super Warmle: Within two alphabetical steps.
- Super Warmle PLUS: Within one alphabetical step.
Smaller ranges make yellow clues more precise, while gray clues leave more possibilities open.
Progress Thermometer
The thermometer below the board tracks how much you have narrowed the possible answer list through your clues. Use it to monitor your progress while continuing to analyze individual tiles.
